North Ogilvie Mountains

Date: June 1971

Occurrence: A surveyor heard what he described as “terrifying screams and moans”, coming from a gully. He approached the gully with a 30/30 Winchester in his hands, then he said he heard movement in the trees down below “like the sound of a bulldozer clearing brush”. He also said that he had the feeling that he was being watched by something “menacing”. He suddenly got the feeling that he should not be there, and decided to leave the area. Later on, when he was back at his camp he heard the same screams coming from the woods around him. He fired his rifle into the woods, towards the direction of the sounds. He then said that “suddenly a roar sounded off that made my knees weak”, then he could hear something moving through the forest at a very fast pace, away from his location.
