Expedition Type: Scouting Trip
Report:
WCSRO researchers Sean Viala & James Ludwar, along
with BFRO investigator Dave Bruce arrived at
Saturday
We left Ram Falls and
headed to Nordegg for breakfast, on the return trip
we stopped and check several possible areas of interest: a footprint trail on a
frozen over creek, and some footprints in a field, but it was nothing definate. On the way back to our camp we noticed a large
gathering of elk in a field acroos from the camp, all
seemed to be in good health and were quite watchful at our approach. Later on
in the day we drove closer to the field where the herd of elk
were gathered. Once there, we blasted three calls from the vehicle, to
see what their reaction would be. They ran, but we could not tell if it was
from the recorded vocalization, just the noise, or from us stopping the
vehicle. We returned to camp and scouted the woods behind our campsite, James found a trail of impressions in the snow
that looked like something large had walked through, probably a week or so
before. It wasn't the size of the impressions that got our attention, but the
length of the stride between the footprints. I'm 6'6" in height, with a
maximum (fully stretched) stride of 3.5 feet, the
stride of the footprints was at least another foot longer, if not more. We took
photographs and marked them "Of Interest". Around
Sunday
On sunday we packed up camp, then took a final look around the area. I took some pictures of the scenery, then we left the area and headed back to the city.
Overview
Even though no
creatures were observed, and no definate footprints
were found. We still classed this as a success, if only for the reason that we recieved a Puyallup-like scream in responce
to our call blasting. We will definately be doing
more expeditions to the

Here is a photograph of the forest near our campsite, it would be easy for something to hide in these trees. Look how dense the forest is.
Here is a trail of footprints on a frozen-over creek. We figured the the stride to be 3.5 ft. We could not tell if they were created by a Sasquatch, we just class them as "Possible".
James found these impressions in the woods behind our campsite. The impressions here looked to be about a week old, but it wasn't the impressions that got our attention. It was the stride between the impressions (circled in blue), it was about 4.5 - 5 feet in length, compared to my footprints (circled in red) with a stride of 2.5 -3 feet maximum. Once again, not 100% proven to be caused by a Sasquatch. But we marked it down as "Of High Interest".
This is only a small
patch of the mountainous forests here in
This photograph was taken
from the passenger seat of James' 4 Runner. Many sightings on this road (
