IMAX Bigfoot

Usually I focus on the hoaxers and cons of Bigfootland but I have decided to focus on something different for my next few posts.

The Bigfoot community has a constant influx of new people, and those people usually post videos that have been debunked, or videos that are highly questionable. The goal here is to try to get to the bottom of these videos. I will likely focus on the more popular videos in which the lines have been blurred by guesses and assumptions.

Part of the problem for new members to the community is that there are breakdowns of videos that are incorrect, in my opinion. Other breakdowns are sensational in nature in order to drive viewers to their channel.

Recently I have seen debate about the IMAX Bigfoot in various Facebook Bigfoot groups, so I'll cover this one today.

I don't know who it was that first suggested this being is a Bigfoot or something other than a human being but I did find a video to use to show how people can jump to conclusions.

The above video appears to be innocent in nature, even though I consider the analysis to be faulty.

The next video comes from a person who I consider to be a detriment to the Bigfoot community. His analyses of videos appear as if he has done his homework but if that was the case, I wouldn't be talking about him. He has over 17,000 subscribers and that is problematic when it comes to sorting out fact from fiction.

He has a loyal following and many of those folks are people who are new to the community. They get sucked in by fancy illustrations and graphics, and by a confident and believable channel host. If you have the time, watch the following video. This one compares to the highly debated Bigfoot versus Buffalo video. It has becomes obvious to me that Thinker Thunker really doesn't have much of an idea of what he is doing, so I hope this blog post gets passed around to as many eyes as possible.

If Thinker Thunker had really investigated this video at all, he would have come across the next video. That would have rendered his half bake analysis useless, though.

The video below comes from Cliff Barackman's channel. Matt Moneymaker and Wally Hersom discuss the subject in the video. This is probably the best resolution I have seen so far.

My advice to everyone would be to be responsible for what you accept as evidence of Bigfoot. Spend a bit of extra time and dig deeper. Most of the time it's easier than you think. Compare various breakdowns and talk to better informed people before jumping to any conclusions.

Habituating Bigfoot

There is a popular practice among quite a few researchers who wish to try and lure Bigfoot closer to them. It's known as habituating or gifting. This practice involves leaving various types of human processed food items, as well as fruits and vegetables.

So far this method of trying to attract a Bigfoot has been widely accepted in the community but I think we need to reevaluate what we are doing.

Is there any evidence to suggest this is a better way of researching than other means? In my opinion, no, there is not. Some people prefer to utilize trail cameras, some like to hike for hours, searching for structures, prints and other forms of possible evidence that may lead to a Bigfoot sighting. Others prefer to sit quietly in one location and study the surrounding area for edible plants, mushrooms and berries. I think all of those are acceptable because those methods have no direct impact on wildlife.

I won't bring up any names here but I recall having a heated debate with a researcher who uses gifting as a way to try to obtain evidence, such as saliva or hair. To the credit of the individual, she admitted that no hair or saliva has been gathered through the gifting of food, if I remember the conversation correctly.

She did, however, feel it was okay to leave out pies and fruit because her opinion was that Bigfoot was taking these, yet there was no evidence to support the notion.
There is another person who travels to the same location repeatedly and he leaves all sorts of food gifts. Some may be nutritionally valuable but most food stuff left is processed junk food, wrapped or contained in plastic.

I know I am not alone in disagreeing with habituation using food but I think we are the minority, albeit a vocal minority. I say this because I don't come across very many people talking negatively about this serious issue.

I have been told that I am over reacting to this because it isn't harming anyone. Obviously the people that said this to me have not really thought out the potential problems of gifting Bigfoot.

Since we have no evidence or proof of Bigfoot taking food, we should rightfully assume that forest animals are taking the food that is left out. I have never seen any food left in hard to reach or strategic locations. For the most part, the food is left on the ground or close to ground level. Other food is left on trees or on branches.

Researchers and enthusiasts need to wake up to the fact that feeding wildlife is wrong, and it is illegal. Leaving food out will make animals less wary of human interactions and the animals will become dependent on hand outs.

There are other problems with habituating. Small animals such as racoons, squirrels and birds can ingest plastics from wrappers and this can cause serious injury and even death. Many animals have had their head caught in jars while trying to get every last drop of processed goodness.

The biggest problem with habituation is that this can lead to a person or group of people being injured, mauled or killed by a bear. There are signs everywhere in campgrounds informing people to not feed the wildlife. Signs are posted in parks and on picnic tables. The signs are at trail heads and pathways. The signs are there for reasons...very good reasons.

Researchers employing this method of research not only risk the lives and well being of wildlife, they endanger their own lives and the lives of people under their care or in their vicinity.

As Bigfoot researchers and enthusiasts, we must become more responsible and respectful of nature and its inhabitants.

Thinker Thunker Attempts to Censor Bigfoot Anarchy

I received an interesting message in my You Tube inbox today. Why can't people just email me? I rarely, if ever, check my messages there.

Apparently I have upset the all powerful and mighty Thinker Thunker for stating my opinions about how he conducts his breakdown videos, if you can call it that. It's actually more like sensationalistic click baiting and that isn't unusual in any area of media.

I have a huge problem with people like Thinker Thunker who take obvious and proven hoaxes, or take innocent videos and twist those videos in order to drive viewers to their channel. If a person is making an honest attempt, I don't have an issue with it. In Thinker's case, the evidence against sincere breakdowns is glaring. A person would have to lack critical thinking skills to come to the conclusions he does, or they are hoping for big hits on their videos. Those are my opinions. If you choose to agree with me, that's cool. If you choose to disagree with me, that is also cool.

Anyone who knows me or interacts with me knows I have strong opinions about anything that is Bigfoot related, especially when it comes to hoaxers, cons, bullshit artists and hoax enablers. In my opinion, Thinker Thunker has jumped from hoax enabler to hoaxer. My reason for this is because of the utterly far reaching and ridiculous Buffalo vs. Bigfoot video breakdown. That video even beats out the almost equally lame Turkey Hunter video.

Here is a new example of other opinions on the Buffalo video. Can 99% of the rational people be wrong?

This brings me to the message I received. Thinker Thunker appears to have an issue with my opinions, and as a result, he is trying to censor and/or silence me. Thinker Thunker provides no valid reasons for telling me to cease and desist, other than to call my posts "hate-posts".
Thinker Thunker, having nothing intelligent to say, resorts to ad hominem attacks.

Good grief. Jed White, AKA Thinker Thunker is such a tough one, isn't he? Please, bitch, come up with something original. This sorry-ass cease and desist letter is vague, childish and carries no weight.

This Is What Happens

The latest video breakdown by Thinker Thunker has gotten under my skin. He took a perfectly innocent video and turned it in to a circus freak show. I'm sure he knows damn well there are no Bigfoot in his video but that doesn't sell. What does sell is contrived bullshit combined with flashy software and some fast talking.

It is people like Thinker Thunker who make the Bigfoot community look foolish. He may not be a hoaxer but he is a hoax enabler and a bullshit artist. Thinker Thunker is counting on the fact that people will blindly believe his weak analysis, and that those people will not research the issue.

Two other breakdowns have been done by other individuals and their analysis of the video better shows what those bipeds likely are. They are human beings out for the day, having fun. Even still, there are others who dismiss those breakdowns in order to side with Thinker Thunker. No real reasons were given other, than "I trust him more" or "I believe him". Really? Is that good enough for people nowadays? It's kind of scary if you sit back and think about it.

I was visiting a thread in one of the Bigfoot Facebook groups and there were a few people who were able to cast doubt on the Bigfoot vs. Buffalo video in about five minutes.

Here is a link to the streaming video of Yellowstone. Old Faithful Geyser Webcam

I checked the webcam yesterday and *gasp* guess what I saw? No, it wasn't a rogue Bigfoot. It was a person strolling on the walkway. It takes awhile for the person to start walking. Look to the right side of the screen and you will see a dark figure on the walkway.

Someone took a few minutes to compose an email and send it to the park. After all, if you want to really get to the bottom of a mystery, why not start with a comment from park officials.
This was the reply the individual received.

If that's not enough, the same person found a website showing a group of people out that very day. Could they be the four people caught by the park webcam?
Link:  Yellowstone National Park

You won't believe this but one person in the group took a photograph of a fierce Buffalo.

There was a question asked on the website but no reply had been given when I last checked the site. Today the person replied to the question. Click on the photo to enlarge.

"how many where there in your group , and did you walk single file?"

"Hey Danny, there were four of us. When we snow shoed we mostly walked single file, but there was room in some areas to walk next to each other on more established trails. Thanks for sending the Bigfoot link. Wish we could have had a sighting!"

Isn't that an interesting coincidence? Thinker Thunker magically finds four Bigfoot in a random video and there were four individuals walking single file in the same area, and on the same day.

Common sense and a tiny bit of logic should tell us that just maybe this group was caught by the park webcam.

This kind of blatant sensationalism by people such as Thinker Thunker needs to come to a stop. Take ten minutes to do a bit of checking on your own. People in the community are always complaining about hoaxers but how many are doing anything about it? Take the time and dig for answers you can share with others. Let's put an end to this madness.

Who is Thinker Thunker?

This is a blog post I have been wanting to do for awhile because I am growing weary of hoax enablers, sensationalists, and fabricators of information.

In my opinion, Thinker Thunker has turned in to one of those individuals. I used to be a fan of his videos because I thought he was providing some good breakdowns for questionable videos.
It seemed like his motives changed over night. Instead of well thought out breakdowns and good observations, his videos have turned in to "everything is a Bigfoot" kind of mentality. I was noticing that Thinker Thunker was revisiting Bigfoot videos that had already been deemed hoaxes by the majority of people in Bigfootland.

I will provide some examples for you.

First up is a screenshot from the IMAX video which allegedly shows a Bigfoot. If I am not mistaken, the subject shown in the video was later reported to be a crew member on an ATV or BMX bike.

In his description, Thinker Thunker goes for the sensational approach and explains why this can NOT be a human.

Then we have the 'Big Red' videos recorded by Timbergiant. In Jim's video, he records something but it's difficult to determine what it is. Some people say it's a dog and others say it's a costume. I am going with the latter on this because I think Timbergiant presents questionable videos. He is either a hoaxer or the luckiest Bigfoot researcher of all time. The man has videos of at least three Bigfoot, multiple videos of foot prints and he has collected evidence, only to be "accidentally" destroyed by TGBF himself.
According to Thinker, not only is this a Bigfoot, but it's carrying a baby. You can't get more sensational than that.

Next there is the Bigfoot in the giant Sequoias. This video has been proven to be a documentary done by Shawn Bannon, yet Think Thunker still tries to get some mileage out of it by claiming this is a real Bigfoot.

This might be intriguing to someone who is new to the Bigfoot community so I'm sure Thinker Thunker is playing on this for channel hits. Thinker spends a lot of time on his videos but he can't research this to find out it's actually not a Bigfoot? His actions are irresponsible and he is blatantly misrepresenting this particular piece of footage.

There is also the Siberian Bigfoot which was later confirmed to be a hoax by Igor Burstev. Thinker Thunker presented this creature as real and carrying a baby as well.

This screen shot contradicts Thinker Thunker.

The last straw for me was recently. Thinker Thunker took an innocent video of Buffalo and hiker/skiers and turned it in to a Bigfoot video.

Thinker has presented complete and utter bullshit with this latest "breakdown". His methods are flawed. Sure, he has a cool voice and fancy software but shit is shit. Spritzing it with perfume won't change it.

If you want a much better and realistic breakdown, I suggest you visit Snow Walker's channel or ParaBreakdown's channel. Both men give a more realistic and sane explanation of what occurred in this video.

Breakdown by Snow Walker

ParaBreakdown video

With so much big shittery going on with Thinker Thunker, I decided to have a look around to see if I could find a reason for his motivations of presenting such  sensationalistic crap.

It didn't take long before I believed I had my answers.

"So far I have over 1,300,000 views on Youtube with well over 9,000 subscribers. I'm not exactly a household name, but it's a nice start.

(I use CGI software to examine and investigate paranormal videos.) People LOVE this stuff! :) And it all ties in with my last script (a paranormal thriller,) which happens to be the 1st script I want to shoot. And at least now, I have an active, hungry audience waiting for new projects)"

I have no issues with Mr. White being an entertainer or making money from entertaining. What I have an issue with, is Thinker Thunker making money off his videos by misleading people. He is knowingly creating false information in order to drive traffic to his channel and videos.

In my opinion he is no different than any other hoaxer, snake oil salesman or bullshit artist. He should no longer be allowed to ride on the backs of people who are interested in the subject of Bigfoot. He does the community a disservice and it's a slap in the face of those who take this subject seriously.

The man should not be taken seriously when it comes to his breakdown videos of anything related to the subject of Bigfoot.

Bigfoot, or Big Tree?

Today I visited one of the Facebook Bigfoot groups and a discussion had started about an old alleged Bigfoot sighting from 2010, however, the video was only recently posted on YouTube.
If you have time check out The Genoskwa Project Ohio , it's a fantastic group.

Here is the video. It's a series of still shots. Link: Paranormal Central

This alleged sighting was also discussed in this video: Bigfoot Photo From Trail Cam

Right from the get go I had problems with this video. First of all, the titles state that the subject in the video is a real Bigfoot without a shred of real evidence or proof shown.

When I see marketing tags like these, it usually raises red flags with me. How can the individuals be so confident that this thing is a Bigfoot?

I watched the video about six times and left some comments in the thread that was discussing this anomaly. From the stills in the video I created some overlays to show what I considered to be nothing more than a tree, foliage and shadows blended together that gave the illusion of a large dark upright body.

Jeffrey Gonzalez from the Sanger Paranormal Society jumped all over me for my own opinion. There were plenty of  "LOL!!!", followed by other words with exclamation points. Mr. Gonzalez, as a last resort, started in with the expected ad hominem attacks. At no point in time did Mr. Gonzalez provide any further evidence to support his claim, save for this ONE photo.

If anything, this one photo helped support my assertions that this is nothing more than pareidolia.

I will lay out the photos down below so you can decide for yourselves.

Zoomed image

Jeffrey Gonzalez at the location

They did do a good job of getting the angle right in this photo but that's about as good as it gets in my opinion.

The next photo is a side by side comparison. Note the shadowed tree behind Mr. Gonzalez. Also, note the bright sunlight on the photo on the left. I believe this is causing a darker and/or larger shadow.

This gives a reasonable size comparison between the "Bigfoot" and Mr. Gonzalez. The scale of the two photos is a bit off in the above picture.

That has been corrected in the overlays below.

I don't have a decent animated gif program so I used Bandicam for the following:

So, is this a blurry Bigfoot? A huge bear? Pareidolia?  I'm sticking to my own opinion on this one but don't let that sway your own opinions.

I do not think this is an outright hoax but I do think it's a simple misidentification or wishful thinking...or maybe both.

If someone, especially those with a public platform, are going to assert that something is genuine, I would hope that these people perform their due diligence to rule out ALL possibilities before jumping to the conclusion that something is a Bigfoot.

I suppose trees don't garner much excitement though.

I'm So Startled! - Bigfoot Sighting While Turkey Hunting

There is a new "Bigfoot" video up on YouTube and for some odd reason, there are people who actually think this is the "real deal". Actually, the video is from June 19, 2014. One popular You Tuber has  done a breakdown of the video that supports the two subjects being real Bigfoot. I'm not sure why the video is getting this sudden attention but it is what it is.

This really surprised me because even a quick view of the video does not scream Bigfoot. It screams two-guys-walking-in-the-woods. It's obvious...very obvious.

Here is the video in question:

The first red flag for me is the terrible acting. It seems like the woman is forcing herself to breathe heavily, and she does NOT appear to be startled. She sounds more like Marlin Perkins in an episode of Mutual Omaha's 'Wild Kingdom' than anything else.

The two subjects casually enter the frame and the woman follows them flawlessly, cell phone perfectly focused. It's just a shame she didn't use the zoom function, then we would have a very clear shot of two people. She was poised enough to keep the phone steady, so I see no reason why she would forget about zooming in. That's red flag number two.

I have grabbed some stills from the video, brightened and adjusted the contrast. I don't have fancy software, so I didn't magnify the stills by 700%, which renders the images useless. I resized the images just enough to show differences of colours in the main subject (the one with the dead deer).

I'll post the full sized enhanced images and below those I will post cropped images and add commentary below each one.

Just by looking at the photos above, it's quite easy to see this is nothing more than a man wearing a gray or light coloured jacket.

Next up are the resized cropped stills. Brightness and saturation have been adjusted slightly in order to show detail.

In this photo we can clearly see the bottom line of the jacket, sloping from upper left to lower right. The head of the subject is much darker than the upper body. The legs are also darker than the body but not as dark as the head. The man is carrying something but it does not resemble a deceased deer.

Once again, dark head, light or gray jacket, and pants of a different colour. In the video it may have appeared as if a dead animal was swinging in the arms of a Bigfoot but this still shows something completely different.
It looks like the person is carrying something similar to a pack or a coat, and dangling below that appears to be a smaller bag, perhaps a case for binoculars. A strap can be seen and it's being held be the left hand.

I have isolated and magnified this portion of the video. It doesn't look like a deer head flopping around.

Is he wearing a cap? Light jacket and brown pants, perhaps. He's holding something with the right hand. The arm looks bent at the elbow with the forearm almost horizontal.

I see nothing in this photo that comes close to resembling a Bigfoot. It looks like a person wearing a jacket.

One last thing that I thought was a bit strange and it didn't make sense until someone posted this short clip from South Park.

This could be a coincidence but then again, maybe it's not. I was unaware that people like to parody South Park. A quick search on YouTube yielded many parodies of this very clip.

Thomas Marcum has also taken a look at this video. You can find his post at The Crypto Crew

EDIT: Thanks to a reader of the blog, we have a zoomed and stabilized version of the video.
